Privacy Notice

The British Salmson Owners Club (BSOC) respects your privacy and we will only use your information in the way we describe in this notice.  When using your information we aim to be fair and transparent, and to follow our obligations under UK data protection laws.  Your information is used for administering club membership, club activities and to pursue our aim of maintaining a Register of the existence and ownership and history of British Salmson and Salmson vehicles.

The BSOC is the data controller for the purpose of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Club contact for privacy and data is the Membership Secretary at membership@britishsalmson.co.uk. 

Collecting your information

We collect your information when you fill in a membership or renewal application, or when you advise us that your details have changed.  You can give us your information using paper forms or by email.  The information you give us may include your contact details (name, address, telephone number, email address), and may include your vehicle details.

Using your information

We use your information when you first apply to become a member of the BSOC and then to administer and renew your club membership, and provide you with member benefits.  We also use your information when you enter club events. Your information is used in these ways to fulfil our contract with you.

By applying to become a member or renewing your subscription you  agree to receiving the Club’s quarterly Magazine, which may contain marketing material. Apart from this we will not use your information to send you marketing messages.

To support our purpose as a Register of surviving British Salmson and Salmson vehicles and their history we may retain your information, along with that of former members and other owners and former owners of such vehicles.

Legal basis

In collecting and using your information as described above we rely upon “legitimate interests” as the legal basis (GDPR Article 6 (1) (f)).

Sharing your information

We may share your information with service providers, for example to distribute our magazine, or with any other person if we have to comply with a legal obligation.

We may circulate a membership list to members but this will only include information where members have given their explicit consent for its inclusion in accordance with GDPR Article 6 (1) (a). 

Apart from the above instances we will not pass your information to any other individual or organisation.

Our website

Our club website does not contain personal data on members other than in the “Sales and Wanted” area, where the contact information given is at the request of the member placing the advertisement.

It contains links to other websites such as other clubs.  If you follow links to other websites please review the privacy policy for each site because we are not responsible for information you share on those sites.

Security for your information

Your information is held securely by us.  We have taken all reasonable steps, and have in place appropriate security measures, to protect your information.  Your information is not transferred outside the European Economic Area.

Your rights

You are entitled to a copy of the information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct any inaccuracies.

You may ask us to stop using your information, and to delete it, although we will maintain information about your vehicles and their ownership.  If you ask us to do this we will not be able to continue our contract with you and you will cease to be a member.

You may make a complaint to the Information Commissioner (www.ico.org.uk).
